Always wanted to write for magazines but never knew where to start? Well, if you live in the Twin Cities, you are in luck! I’ll be teaching a 6-week workshop titled From Query to Print: Magazine Writing Basics.
This fast-paced course is designed for beginning to intermediate writers who wish to learn the nuts and bolts of freelancing for magazines. We’ll start with the basics: finding appropriate publications to pitch stories to, crafting well-written query letters, and other tricks of the trade. We’ll discuss how to build relationships with editors so that we can move past querying editors to receiving ongoing assignments.
The course is open to all levels. It runs from 10:00am – 12:00 p.m., from September 14 to October 14, at the St. Paul Jewish Community Center, located at 1375 St. Paul Avenue in St. Paul. Price is $186.00, though there is a low-income price of $130.20, and one scholarship is available. Register at https://www.loft.org/offsite-classes, or call 612-379-8999.
